Garden Hose Reel Cart

A garden hose reel cart is simply a garden hose reel with wheels. Reels are great for storing hose, but if you need to move them around, if for example you have a large yard or grounds or a big garden, a garden hose reel cart may be ideal for you.

I first purchased one when I needed to be able to water all along and at the end of my 300 foot driveway, and dragging hoses was, well, a drag, and quite impractical as well. My wife researched and bought a garden hose reel cart, a big model with 4 pneumatic tires, and life was grand.

Originally we bought it when our long driveway was paved and it was recommended we water the asphalt twice a day to help it cure faster. I wasn’t sure we’d have much use for it later, but it turns out to be one of the better gardening related accessories we’ve bought.

A few things to look for when shopping for one:

Capacity of the reel. A little extra capacity never hurts, especially as you may not always wind hose on 100% perfectly, but if you only use 100 feet of hose you probably don’t want one that holds 300+ feet as it’ll be bigger and weigh more.

Wheels. Your choices are pneumatic or solid wheels, 2 or 4 wheels, and the wheel size as well. We opted for 4 big pneumatic tires as we had a long way to go and we envisioned using the garden hose reel cart in the very rough and uneven woods next to our house, lawn, and garden. It was a good choice but would have been overkill if we had one acre or less of smooth lawn only.

Construction. How is it constructed? Plastic or metal? There are advantages of course to each. Plastic can crack and break for example, while metal may rust or bend. Metal is of course much stronger.

Price. Unfortunately you usually get what you pay for. I like viewing the Garden Hose Reel Cart Choices at Amazon as I often find the user reviews very helpful.

It features four large (ten inch) pneumatic wheels and is designed to work well on varied types of terrain. It's build with a strong and stable tubular frame and the raised reel makes for comfortable rewinding. The dual padded handlebar is comfortable to use.
