Garden Hose Reels

Garden hose reels are very convenient. You can store hoses on them, pull them out easily for use, and then wind them back up onto the hose reel quickly and easily up on the reel by turning the handle. Some even have a guide that goes back and forth as you wind ensuring the hose is placed evenly on the reel. And there automatic or "self retracting" ones that either use a spring or are powered by electricity that do the winding for you too!

A wide assortment of garden hose reels are available, including free standing ones and wall mount models. There are even some designed to be carried around, although most made for portable use have wheels. Some types of hoses, most notably flat hoses, come with a reel. Some are enclosed and look like a small plastic storage box. Others leave the hose visible.

You can expect to pay between 30 to 200 dollars for a garden hose reel, depending on capacity, features, and how fancy it is. Most are in the 50 to 100 dollar range. You can find them locally at department, hardware or gardening stores, at least in season, as well as ordering them online from a variety of places. If you often move your hoses any distance, for example from your garage or storage shed to your yard, you probably want one with wheels. Ones designed for more than occasional movement are usually called hose reel carts and often have inflatable tires to make moving long distances and over rough terrain easy.
