Garden Hose Hanger

A Garden hose hanger is a convenient way to store a garden hose between uses. Unlike a cart, it’s not designed for movement but stationary storage. There are both freestanding models and wall mounted models. We have three, one for each faucet outside.

Two of them are wall mounted models and when the hose is not in use we (usually) quickly wind the hose around it to keep the yard and front of the house looking neat and tidy. Admittedly, when we are using the hose a lot , for example in the summer when we are watering our container grown tomatoes daily, we may not wind up the hose every time. And the kids, currently 5, 7, and 9 never put the hose away either!

Our other one is a freestanding model we have at the side of the house. It easily pushes into the ground, and we do occasionally move this one around the side yard depending on where we have been working lately. It’s very similar to the Green Esteem Deluxe Hose Holder, a very popular model. In fact it may be identical, it’s identical enough :) I’m writing this up in the office wishing it was nice and warm instead of cold and drizzling and that I was home working on the yard and gardens!

Garden hose hangers range from simple and functional to decorative and hopefully functional too! I look for ones with wide curved platforms to support the hose easily and make it easy to wind the hose around with less chance of developing kinks (even kink free garden hoses can kink). Of course I also look for ones that either blend in innocuously or that are decorative and pretty and match my motif.

You can usually see a good selection in season at your local hardware store, gardening store, home improvement store, or department store. Off season you probably won’t see many if any at all. I enjoy looking online at the options available, and checking out the reviews, something that’s hard to do at local stores, although some may be able to offer great advice.

It holds up to 150 feet of hose which is plenty for most uses, has a simple architectural design that blends in well, has a handy large cabinet with a shelf in the middle of the holder where you can store hose accessories and gardening tools, has hooks on the bottom to hold hose end, sprinklers or and similar accessories and mounts easily via its keyhole slots.

A garden hose holder, or three as in my case, certainly beats having hoses lying around aimlessly between uses. It also makes it less likely that hoses will be damaged, for example by a lawn mower.
